Commands and Colors - Ligny

June 2015 will see the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo. With the recent release of the Prussian module, the C&C napoleonic fan is set up for replaying the various battles from the 100 days campaign, which culminated with French, Prussian and Anglo-Allied units meeting at Waterloo.

The scenarios from the base module give us Quatre Bras and Waterloo, while the Prussian expansion has Ligny, Wavre and Placenoit.

This post gives a replay of the Ligny battle, together with some observations of the game and battle.

Incidental terrain

Needing something to visually break up the battlefield a little, I have started making some incidental terrain pieces.

These are pieces that are of aesthetic value only, they never effect movement, give cover or block line of sight. As far as the game is concerned, they don't exist - they are just there to please the eye.

Blow the bridge!

In the recent Issue (no 76) of the rather excellent Wargames, Soldiers & Strategy magazine, Guy Bowers (Editor) produced an article in the 'bitesize battles' series called Blow the Bridge!

The scenario is generic, suited to several periods, though in his article, Horse & Musket forces are used, together with the Black Powder rule set (modified to use half movement).

This post covers my attempts at replicating the game as outlined by Guy, but converting it to play on Kallistra hexes with my 10mm Pendraken WWII forces, using the Tigers at Minsk rules.
