While browsing in WH Smiths (UK high street stationers) today, I came across the first issue of a part works that looks like it will be covering the 40K universe.
This first issue is at the give-away price of £1.99, I say this mainly because it includes three full pots of paint.
The full package includes part 1 of the magazine collection, a sprue of 3 Space Marine Intercessor models with bases, 3 full pots of paint, these being, Macragge Blue, Abaddon Black and Retributor Armour (a lovely warm gold metalic), a starter paint brush and an 8 panel, space marine poster.
Part 2 will go up to £4.99 and then the standard price of each issue will be £7.99
I can see this being popular with GW fans and frankly for my £1.99, just the paint and brush alone makes me happy. I will probably make the three models up and eventually use them with a box of Cadian infantry and a bi-ped walker that have been glued up and set to one side for some future Sci-Fi skirmish gaming.
I hope that at least some people come across this in the high street and it draws them or their family members into dabbling with wargaming - who knows! For the rest of us CHEAP PAINT!
Thanks for the heads up Norm.
ReplyDeleteOff to Smiths tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteI think these will fly out, I am quite taken by that gold paint which I haven’t come across before.
ReplyDeleteGood tip off. Thanks :O)
ReplyDeleteI grabbed this yesterday as well. It's almost worth taking the sub for the first four issues or so and getting the free stuff. Long term it looks VERY expensive for what you'll get but good luck to them!
ReplyDeleteI looked in my Smiths yesterday and it looked like the shelf had been refilled, looked this morning and it was all cleared out.
ReplyDeleteWow, that's a good deal. I haven't added to my small Space Marine collection, but this sounds intriguing.
ReplyDeleteAs Andy M said. It will work out very expensive, even with 3 figures and paint in the long run
ReplyDeleteCertainly worth £1.99 for the paint and brush!
ReplyDeleteSomebody on one of the forums commentated the the 3 figure sprue (the larger figures) were worth around £8.
ReplyDeleteI have no idea as to whether that is right. my own Smiths remins out of stock. I know some people did multi-buys for the figures, but what does one do with all that blue / black / gold paint?
A mate tried to get me to subscribe to this, but I haven’t bitten đŸ™‚
