Burnside Bridge video trailer

Video trailer

The game has now been played and the concluding post of the trilogy is being prepared, with a spilling of much ‘e’ ink on the editor’s floor, in an effort to keep things concise :-)

In the meantime, here is a short trailer (just a for fun thing) that shows the opening positions. LINK

  1. Brilliant Norm! Really loved it and some nice shots there. Having just read about the attack yesterday and today, it will be interesting see how this action played out compared to the historical action.

Did you mix in shots of 28mm figures with your 12mm ones?

    1. I did - basically the game itself is in 12mm. I chose this because the ‘real’ bridge is 125’ long and I wanted there to be a feel for that, plus it makes the creek look a bit more substantial.

For the vid, I included a few 28mm shots, just for the show of it all.

  3. Thanks Phil, I did find a sample of 1908 ‘Battle Hymn for the Republic’ Played on a piano with very obvious old school recording, but I couldn’t find copyright details, but that would have made a splendid audio accompaniment.

  4. Very nice vid. It’s got a great ‘ken burns’ feel to it. It’s all the great pics being panned across. It’s such a pretty collection. 😀

  5. Thanks Stew, the iPad Movie Maker has a Ken Burns feature, which I only switched off for the text.

  6. That's really cool Norm - I too assumed a few of the individual close ups were 28mm, although these days, the way some people can paint, you never know....

  7. Thanks Keith, just a dipping of my toe in the waters at the moment, but for bigger games in the future, it might prove an interesting sort of thing to add. I know what you mean about painting standards, it’s tough to withstand the cruelty that close up digital brings, but some painters just seem gifted regardless of scale, to deliver time after time.

  8. Oh Norm, that really is very good indeed, love the atmosphere the music creates. The figures and terrain all look excellent. There is something spine tingling about Civil War music isn't there, one of my best re enactment memories was marching along the narrow country road towards the American Museum at Bath for a battle, boots stamping in step, muskets shouldered, the colours fluttering up ahead and the entire column singing Battle Cry of Freedom, I can't describe the feeling :) Looking forward to more of this.

  9. Thanks Lee, that sound like a very immersive experience. I am just knocking together the final bits for the new post, so it should be up soon.
