They pointed me in the direction of The Last Hundred Yards. Also I note that Compass are going to redo the Tank Leader series and plan to add to it with supporting modules - though it still remains the case that you can only buy and play so much, but there is definitely something for everyone, whatever one's tastes.Normhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05031444717952755557noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5368677310334370714.post-43779607823140413682018-10-21T14:35:14.878+00:002018-10-21T14:35:14.878+00:00For whatever reason, I posted that as "unknow...For whatever reason, I posted that as "unknown". Yeah, I've slowed down a little with purchases...I retired last december, so now I'm living on Social Security, a small pension, and small amount of rent from a tenant. BIG mortgage still, so it's put a big dent in what I buy. I have a couple of things on pre-order though: The new Kontact Now game from LnL, and The Last Hundred Yards from GMT. It's a very innovative squad level infantry game, you should check it out if you haven't heard of it. I did a bit of play testing last year--it's *much* different from anything else in tactical game arena. I also did one of the new CSS games (a grand tactical series type game from Compass Games) called Fulda Gap; picture Where Eagles Dare in a cold war gone hot setting. Should be cool, and all together should give me something to look forward to in the next couple of months :) Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09972254129368208789noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5368677310334370714.post-10073382821600880622018-10-21T05:38:35.766+00:002018-10-21T05:38:35.766+00:00Hi, Thanks for the thumbs up for the blog. In recent years, I have had a real slow down in boardgame purchases, but I would say over the past 18 months, there is a lot of new exciting product around that seems to have generated a renewed buzz in the boardgame world. I am hoping to pick up this expansion shortly, but right now I'm recovering from the GMT sale, so it will be a little while :). In the mean time, I think the "Tactical" part of the series just stems from the new management wanting to consolidate everything from a system that spans 15 years (dating back to the first version of Forgotten Heroes). I love what they're doing with the system these days, the components and production values are as good as it get. I just with you could get the stuff from CSI for 40% off lol. Lock 'n Load reprinted the line of 8 base modules, Russia, Normandy, France 40, Pacific, Nam, North Africa, Red Star (1985 ish) and Falklands. the important thing is that these came in the deeper 3" boxes, so are easy to differentiate from any older versions. I think anyone starting could just pick a base unit that they fancy for a serious dabble, but for a toe dip, their Starter kit for around £12 seems to be the ideal way for anyone to know whether they would want to get involved with the system.

Here is link for an example of the product from a UK Dealer, I think you would get it cheaper in the U.S.

https://www.secondchancegames.com:7081/index.php/ww2/lock-n-load-tactical-starter-kit-v5-0-detail

Normhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05031444717952755557noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5368677310334370714.post-70055233408679287652018-10-05T02:07:18.988+00:002018-10-05T02:07:18.988+00:00Great stuff, Norm!
