I have only glanced at the rules because I will likely be doing something else rules-wise, but I do keep getting drawn back to the various battles. I should really know a lot of this, but I don't and the book is useful for putting the development of the kingdoms / nation into an order that is easily absorbed. I had intended to then play the 17 or so scenarios therein to get me into Dark Age gaming but this side project has languished for the last 3 years. It is on the list as a good possibility in the next few years - I have all the pages bookmarked ready to go! I seem to remember it has some rules at the back that seem to be a little like WRG 6th but using d10s.Shaun Travershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05691522858410783769noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5368677310334370714.post-81578686609091446732018-02-02T03:26:57.497+00:002018-02-02T03:26:57.497+00:00Hi Alastair, I can't believe that considering ...Hi Alastair, I can't believe that considering how many wargame shows I go to and the number of times I visit military sections at a wide number of stores and that I do the Kindle thing, that I have missed this title.

I had come across 'A wargamers guide to 1066 and the Norman Conquest by Daniel Mersey' last year, so between the two titles I hope to pick up some wargaming perspective as much as historical information.

Out of interest, I paid the cover price for the book, which is £22, I have since discovered it on the Kindle for £7 however, it is the kind of thing that I would rather have in my hand to quickly flick between sections, rather than dragging pages across on a screen, it just seems easier to 'dip into' in the book form as it stands at 280 pages.Normhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05031444717952755557noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5368677310334370714.post-41658689805463788692018-02-02T03:17:13.132+00:002018-02-02T03:17:13.132+00:00Hi Jonathan, I had originally thought Italy or Cru...Hi Jonathan, I had originally thought Italy or Crusades for the Norman forces, but just the briefest of time with this book is tempting me backwards to around Nechtansmere 685 (always wanted to do that) with the General Fyrd figures, which can proxy for a lot of troopsNormhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05031444717952755557noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5368677310334370714.post-46883151853559989822018-02-02T00:15:40.256+00:002018-02-02T00:15:40.256+00:00Oooh....I've had this on my wishlist for a whi...Oooh....I've had this on my wishlist for a while now!alastairhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15012644168758721189noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5368677310334370714.post-18209458333948767912018-02-02T00:07:18.841+00:002018-02-02T00:07:18.841+00:00hope you find this book a valuable resource for yo...hope you find this book a valuable resource for your project.
