I have the Wilson's Creek mini game and the edges of all the hills include a slope which enhances the combat factor for the defender on the hill, weakening the power of the attacker going uphill. I have Salem Church as well and think I may add the Wilson's Creek terrain effect as a house rule. It really does make sense, unless this hill is actually just a bit of a rise. The combination of disruption and morale checks give these little games good replay ability as the results are not going to be the same from game to game. As an inexperienced war gamer with limited tabletop space, these games make the hobby viable of me. Again, terrific report and I look forward to reading your others on this game system.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5368677310334370714.post-70364750043699769962019-08-31T13:44:58.337+00:002019-08-31T13:44:58.337+00:00It looks fantastic. I have the first two volumes of the Huzzah! series and though I haven't yet played either I believe they are at battalion level. Most of my other series are at brigade - Glory 1-3 (a planned fourth on The Seven days never appeared),the Blood before Richmond series or division/brigade as The Great Campaigns of the ACW (now vastly pricey for the latest titles). The obvious series for regimental is Great Battles of the ACW - I think I have seven or eight and they appear on ebay quite often - and the latest volume is the recently released Death Valley. The two series I am missing and would like are Battle Hymn and Blind Swords but there is so much to get both in board games and miniatures.kevin halloranhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10836302345952439069noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5368677310334370714.post-34191366391659751062019-08-27T08:05:15.951+00:002019-08-27T08:05:15.951+00:00I'm much obliged, Norm and will check SCG out ...I'm much obliged, Norm and will check SCG out today. By the way I love examining battlefield maps and this one is as you say a slight mystery. The official maps of the battle clearly show the main ridge running north-south just west of the church and another shorter ridge running parallel just east and slightly north of the toll gate.
