As our readers will recall, we had our suspicions that Monty Bartholomew Slackjaw Smythe had been getting a bit too familiar with some 28’s, while all the time pretending that he was a regular guy who thought small was beautiful!

Being a cutie, he has barely put a foot wrong since. Indeed only recently, he had two cartons of various 1/72 plastics, all still on the sprue, up for sale on e-bay, appearing to be keeping to his New Year commitment of just sticking with the small stuff. Of course, in the interests of fair reporting and to show we are not at all biased against the devious scallywag, we can say that he did actually sell them, which funded a 6mm purchase.
It comes as some surprise therefore, that our agents in the field caught him talking to Professor Rivet, that well know associate of The Dark Art of Modelling forum and something of a specialist on the restoration of Soviet armour circa 1943.
His comrade in arms, Rusty Rowlocks, a man of stout stature, has been selling the Pegasus range of fast build 1/72 vehicle kits and underground sources suggest that Rusty and Rivet are getting together to do a Kursk collection that will bedazzle the poorly focussed Smythe, who in his usual cack-handed way of model making, has a finesse that has never risen above using the old green undercoat, with a heavy slap of wash method!
Heartbreak Harry, who when not otherwise occupied, is the proprietor of ‘Magic Washes Emporium’ and a regular contributor to The Dark Art of Modelling forum. Having written widely on the subject of ‘not being naff’, has most recently espoused the virtues of patiently applying layers of specialist commodities to models to allow for chipping effects. Unfortunately the moderator had to intervene when an indignant Smythe, who doesn’t need a barber, turned the air blue at the mention of hairspray!
Smythe’s closest friend and confidant, Tommy Twoface, has agreed for the princely sum of £10 and a pork pie, to keep his eye and both ears open for anything that might shed light on the cosy, but secretive world of the Smythe, Rusty and Rivet shenanigans.
So is Slackjaw dabbling again? or is this just another instance of smoke, mirrors and a good slap of Future acrylic floor polish?
