As a blogger, using Google’s own Blogger software, it used to be very easy to follow another blogger, you just clicked the FOLLOW button on their blog and new posts would automatically be shown in your own blog reader section (the MY BLOGLIST GADGET).
As I understand it, the automation on Blogger’s Reader List gadget is no longer fully functioning and some manual steps are needed to get the Blogger Reader to pull the latest posts in. No doubt other external blog readers work fine, this post just refers to the ‘Blogger’ reader.
Anyway, here is a description of the steps necessary to deal with that;
On your own blog page, you should have the gadget called MY BLOGLIST, check your LAYOUT if it needs adding.
When browsing the blog you want to follow, make a note of the full name of the blog and then hit their FOLLOW button.
Now go into your own dashboard, look at the menu on the left and select LAYOUT
Within your layout, you will see a box called MY BLOG LIST (Blog list Gadget). Press the EDIT button in that box. This will take you to the CONFIGURE BLOG LIST page.
Scroll right down to the bottom and select ADD A NEW ITEM
It will ask you for the name of the blog that you want to add. Enter that, after the first few letters, it will probably find the rest of the blog title for you.
Immediately underneath, it offers you the blog address followed by the words BLOGSPOT.COM
Immediately after ‘.com’ add this text. /feeds/posts/default
Include all three forward slashes.
Now press CONTINUE then press SAVE
You are done and should now see any new posts in the Blogger Blog List, (which remember is a gadget).
